Kanako Morohaku is an associate professor of Germ Cell Engineering and Physiology at the Faculty of Agriculture in Shinshu University. Her main research is ex vivo engineering of female germ cells in mammals. After finished a PhD course at Tohoku University in 2010, engaged as a postdoctoral fellow at Kitasato University and then at Cornel University in USA. During 4 years from 2013 to 2017 in a laboratory of Professor Dr. Yayoi Obata at Tokyo University of Agriculture, research on in vitro culture of primordial germ cells for producing live offspring has been developed. By developing an ex vivo method, future research is expected to contribute to efficient reproduction in farm and endangered animals.
