My name is Sarah West, and I am a PhD candidate in Animal Science at Texas A&M University, focusing on neuroendocrinology under Dr. Rodolfo Cardoso. I earned my B.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M and completed an M.S. in Physiology of Reproduction in 2020, focusing on how maternal and postnatal nutrition affects the neuropeptide Y (NPY) system in juvenile beef heifers. I then began my PhD with Dr. Cardoso. My current research explores differences in GnRH/LH secretion and KNDy neuron function between Bos indicus and Bos taurus females, aiming to improve reproductive efficiency in Bos indicus-influenced cattle.
