Courtney Kehaulani Kurashima is a 3rd year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Developmental and Reproductive Biology. She obtained her bachelor's in 2021, majoring in Biochemistry from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She then worked as a research assistant for Dr. Claire Wright at Chaminade University for a year on the molecular mechanisms of fetal membranes. Her current lab under Dr. Yusuke Marikawa focuses on identifying molecular mechanisms of teratogens using an in vitro stem-cell embryo model. Courtney is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2027 and plans to become a professor in Hawaiʻi.
