Hongmei Wang is a deputy director of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She is also the chairman of the Chinese Society of Reproductive Biology. Hongmei and her research team are committed to utilizing various models including human, non-human primate and mouse embryos and extraembryonic tissues, as well as stem cell-based embryo models and organoids to unravel the fundamental events and mechanisms of mammalian early embryo development and placentation. Additionally, they seek to establish the relationship between the anomalies in embryo and placental development and the onset of birth defects or gestational related diseases.
