Shobitha Unnikrishnan earned her Ph.D. in Biological Physics from North Carolina A & T State University in 2024. She currently works as a Research Associate in Dr. Chih Kuan Tung's lab, studying biophysics of sperm motility. Her research focuses on understanding how the physical environment in the mammalian female reproductive tract affects sperm motility and behavior. Using microfluidic devices, she investigates how fluid viscoelasticity influences sperm propulsion mechanisms and flow-induced collective organization. Insights from her work aim to improve infertility diagnosis by identifying viable sperm based on their interactions within physiologically relevant environments.
