My name is Shelbie Wenner and I am a second year graduate MSTP student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. My interests in treating disease by interacting with patients and delving into intricate physiological abberations that lead to disease, led me to pursue an MD/PhD degree. During my two years of preclinical medical education and through experiences shadowing a REI specialist, I discovered an profound interest in understanding the physiology of reproduction. This led me to Dr. Maria Mikedis who studies gametogenesis regulation. My project focuses on the regulation of meiotic initiation, a critical transition point in gametogenesis.
