Assistant Professor
Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School
Medford, Massachusetts, United States
I have been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) since April 2022. My laboratory explores the molecular basis of mucosal immunity in the epididymis and applies the knowledge acquired through basic research to identify new diagnostic/therapeutic targets for male infertility. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry in 2008 at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I conducted my Ph.D. studies at the same university, focused on sperm physiology, under the supervision of Dr. Cuasnicu. From June 2015 to July 2019, I performed my Postdoctoral training in Dr. Breton’s laboratory at MGH, and I was awarded two Lalor Fellowships to study molecular mechanisms involved in luminal acidification in the urogenital tract. While examining the role of proton-secreting cells in epithelial dynamics, we uncovered a completely novel role for these cells in immune regulation. I started my research group in April 2021, when my first NIH R01 was awarded. My scientific contributions have been recognized through several prestigious accolades, including the MGH Sanchez and Ferguson Research Faculty Award, the MGH Physician/Scientist Development Award, and the MGH Claflin Distinguished Scholar Award. In 2024, I was honored with the 2024 Matthew P. Hardy Young Andrologist Award from the American Society of Andrology (ASA). More recently, I was selected as one of the SSR Rising Stars in Reproduction. Furthermore, I have been deeply committed to training the next generation of scientists and mentoring postdoctoral fellows, international Ph.D. students, and pre-medical school students.
