Katie Peterson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Mathew Lab within the Department of Animal Science at the University of Tennessee. Her research centers on bovine reproductive physiology, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms that support early pregnancy establishment in cattle. Katie earned her B.S. in Animal Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, before beginning graduate work under Dr. Daniel Mathew. Her master’s research examined variation in endometrial responses to in vivo-derived and in vitro-produced bovine conceptuses. She continued her doctoral studies in the same lab, where she now investigates the role of Galectin-1 (LGALS1) in conceptus-endometrial communication.
