Smithika Karru is an undergraduate research assistant at Dr. Shuo Xiao’s lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Rutgers University. She is a rising senior majoring in Cell Biology & Neuroscience Honors with a minor in Psychology, studying reproductive toxicology, focusing on oocyte meiotic maturation and effects of various environmental stressors. Smithika aims to conduct and support evidence-based research that protects reproductive health, particularly for populations underrepresented. She is committed to advancing women’s health through clinically relevant research, while preparing for a career in medicine.
