Senior Scientist
INIA, CSIC, Spain
Pablo Bermejo-Álvarez is a Senior Scientist at the Spanish National Institute for Agriculture Research (INIA). His main research line is focussed on mammalian early embryo development, employing genome editing and in vitro approaches in diverse mammalian models for the double purpose of understanding embryonic losses in livestock and humans. Major scientific achievements include the development of highly efficient systems to edit the genome of livestock animals, an in vitro system to attain ungulate development beyond blastocyst hatching, the discovery of the essential roles of the proteins TMEM95 and ZP4 on mammalian reproduction, and uncovering that TEAD4 is dispensable for trophectoderm development in non-rodent species.
