Emma Gilbert, B.S. is a rising fifth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology in the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. After graduating summa cum laude from James Madison University in 2021 with a B.S. in Health Sciences, she joined Dr. Chris Geyer’s laboratory at East Carolina University to investigate the mechanisms by which a germ cell-specific RNA-binding protein exerts post-transcriptional control over the gene expression program required for male germ cells to enter meiosis. Emma also teaches gross anatomy and has been recognized by the medical school for her dedication to medical education.
