Assistant Professor
Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center/Univ of Arkansas for Med Sci
The focus of my academic career has been to understand mechanisms involved in the development of cardiovascular disease. I have a background in cardiovascular pharmacology and physiology, with specific training in vascular reactivity. At the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center I investigate how maternal obesity affects offspring health and metabolism from a molecular and epigenetic standpoint. My lab routinely assesses whole body metabolism, vascular reactivity, and mitochondrial function in offspring from control and high-fat diet fed dams. I also have a translational arm to my lab where we measure endothelial function in children using ultrasound-guided brachial artery flow-mediated dilation.
